Communiqué - 1 October 1994 by Jan van Rooyen With many reports of the wonderful way that God has started moving across our nation and abroad, we read in Hosea 6:1-3 the following; "Come, and let us return to the Lord; for He has torn so that He may heal us; He has stricken so that He may bind us up. After two days He will revive us -- quicken us, give us life; on the third day He will raise us up, that we may live before Him. Yes, let us know -- recognise, be acquainted with and understand Him; let us be zealous to know the Lord -- to appreciate, give heed to and cherish Him. His going forth is prepared and certain as the dawn, and He will come to us as the heavy rain, as the latter rain that waters the earth."The move of God's Spirit that is becoming apparent, is happening purely because God is doing it. We cannot create revival, BUT, there is one thing that we can do, and it is to humble ourselves before the Lord. God responds to those that will humble themselves before Him as we read in the following scriptures; Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."I would like to encourage you to continue to take your stand as an intercessor at this time. Although God is moving mightily, there is much work that has to be done in the hearts of God's people before the revival can come in its fullness. The reason for this is found in Luke 5:37-39; "And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the fresh wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be ruined (destroyed). But new wine must be put in fresh wineskins; And no one after drinking old wine immediately desires new wine, for he says, The old is good or better."This verse of scripture is a complete teaching on its own, but it suffices to say that the wineskins refer to our souls and the renewing of our minds, Romans 12:1,2. We need to seek the face of God in order for Him to prepare our hearts for His glory. We are the carriers of His glory, and if we allow ourselves to be purified (2 Tim 2:20,21) we will be ready and available when He starts manifesting His glory in and through us. I agree with the Apostle Paul and say; "Be earnest and unwearied and steadfast in your prayer life, being both alert and intent in (your praying) with thanksgiving. And at the same time pray for us also, that God may open a door to us for the Word (the Gospel), to proclaim the mystery concerning Christ, the Messiah,..." (Colossians 4:2,3)In conclusion, may "the Lord bless you, and watch, guard and keep you; the Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious, kind, merciful, and giving favour to you. The Lord lift up His approving countenance upon you, and give you peace continually" (Numbers 6:24-26.) Yours in His Love and Anointing Jan van Rooyen |
