Kingdom Economics and Biblical Finance

John 14:30, "I will not talk with you much more, for the prince (evil genius, ruler) of the world is coming. And he has no claim on Me. [He has nothing in common with Me; there is nothing in Me that belongs to him, and he has no power over Me.]" (AMP)

Jesus Destroyed the devil!

In Lesson One I concluded with the question, "Why does it appear the devil still exerts such 'great' influence and dominance in this world?" (Especially when it comes to Economics and Money...). To keep our focus on this question and give a fitting and appropriate answer, this lesson will seek to probe and examine it further and on a deeper level.

From the outset it is crucial for us to accept the fact that satan is a defeated foe and ALL his power has been stripped from him. If you and I don't fully accept and come to this conclusion, it leaves the door open for us to think he still has power over us. Having said this, take into account that in spite of his undeniable and total defeat, he will even now attempt to exert influence over our lives. 1 Peter 5:8-9 describes it this way:

"8 Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. 9 Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset - rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined]..." (AMP)

The devil IS NOT a roaring lion!

Keep this indisputable fact in your mind at all times: the devil IS NOT a roaring lion... Even with maximum effort he can only dream (delusions of grandeur) to imitate the image of a roaring lion! The tactic behind his attempt to "roam around like a lion roaring" is to create an illusion which is in fact a delusion. This misleading notion then deceives the heart of man into submitting to fear (read more about the effects of delusion and deceit in Genesis 3:1-13; Galatians 3:1; Colossians 2:8; 2 Thessalonians 2:11).

Once fear settles into the heart, it's just a matter of time before such a person begins to act on their fears. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he... Proverbs 23:7a (also Numbers 13:33; Matthew 12:34-37; 15:16-20). I have an acronym for fear:

False, Evidence, Appearing, Real

Once the heart reacts and acts on what it perceives to be "reality," the devil's evil battle strategy to take control, is all but won!

Referring to 1 Peter 5:8, notice how Peter begins the verse with, "...Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times..." The heart and mind play a crucial role in empowering us to maintain a consistent, even, and peaceful demeanour! This is why it is so important to saturate ourselves in and renew our minds with the Word of God (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 4:20-24). It is the hearing of the Word which generates faith in our hearts and displaces fear! (Romans 10:17) (also see Romans 5:5; 1 John 4:18)


"...until Christ is fully formed within you..."

Important! The only way the devil may be able to influence us is in the areas where our hearts and minds are ignorant. Those areas where the Light and knowledge of Christ have not yet fully influenced and transformed our inner man. Remember what Paul says in Galatians 4:19:

"My little children, for whom I am again suffering birth pangs until Christ is completely and permanently formed (molded) within you." (AMP)

"You are my dear children, but I agonize in spiritual 'labor pains' once again, until the Anointed One will be fully formed in your hearts!" (TPT)

"My children, I feel like a mother who is giving birth to you again. I will continue to feel that kind of pain until you become more completely like Christ." (EasyEnglish Bible)

Also take note of this verse:

Psalm 91:1, "HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty..." (AMP) (I encourage you to read the entire Psalm 91 so you can observe how God protects and watches over us.)

In view of the above verse, I suggest to you that God's "secret place" is in fact Christ! And, furthermore, under the New Covenant we are one with Him:

1 Corinthians 6:17, "But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him." (AMP) (Also see Ephesians 4:4 & 5:30).

1 Corinthians 6:17, "But the one who joins himself to the Lord is mingled into one spirit with him." (TPT)

Under the New and better Covenant, we are not only seated IN Christ at the Right Hand of the Father, we are ONE with Him. The Passion Translation says we are, "mingled into one spirit with him." Mingle means; mixed, blended, merged, fused, compounded, and married. We cannot be more "one" with Him than that! This places us in a definite and indisputable position of rulership and victory with Christ. It is our duty to fully comprehend and embrace this reality. And, when we do, we will truly experience what it means to be hidden from the influence and exploitation of our common enemy!

Now, let us bring these concepts and principles into the context of our foundation Scripture, John 14:30. As with Christ, the devil can find "nothing in us that belongs to him." And, as Christ is, so are we in this world - 1 John 4:17b. Christ is in us and we are in Christ! The devil has nothing in common with us and we no longer have anything in common with him. The finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ completely disconnected and disengaged us from satan and his sham kingdom. And, he (satan) is totally severed and detached from any "relationship" we may have had with him before Christ came into our lives.

Take a look at these awesome verses:

Exodus 33:21, "And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place beside Me, and you shall stand upon the rock, 22 And while My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by." (AMP) (The rock in this verse clearly refers to our "hiddenness" in Christ, our Rock).

Psalm 83:2, "For, behold, Your enemies are in tumult, and those who hate You have raised their heads. 3 They lay crafty schemes against Your people and consult together against Your hidden and precious ones." (AMP)

Colossians 1:13, "[The Father] has delivered and drawn us to Himself out of the control and the dominion of darkness and has transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of His love..." (AMP)

Colossians 1:13, "...who delivered us from the power of darkness, and transplanted us into the kingdom of the Son of his love..." (Godbey New Testament)

Many more verses in confirmation of the above may be quoted. Even so, these provide more than sufficient evidence that our Heavenly Father made generous and plentiful provision for us in and through Christ. He "transplanted" and relocated us unto and into Himself; We are hidden and secured in Him. This special Place (Christ our Rock) shields and protects us from prying and meddlesome demonic eyes and influence! The actual reality is, "they" (the demonic realm) cannot find us because we are hidden away from them. We died with and in Christ and we are DEAD to the realm of darkness!

The "job" which remains for us is to actively and by faith enforce the victory our Heavenly Father has so extensively and lavishly accomplished on our behalf. And, in the context of this series of lessons, our victory must unfold and manifest in the area of economics and finances! In Lesson 3 I will continue to expound how we can practically affirm and manifest the finished work of Christ.
